Phosphate Selective Polymers |
My project in the Smith group involved the synthesis of novel phosphate binding polymers with biomedical applications. This research is supported by The Wellcome Trust, and unfortunately I am unable to give many details of the project, as we are seeking patent protection for the systems we developed. The project involves the synthesis of a generation of materials capable of showing high affinity and high selectivity phosphate anion binding. We have been developing innovative synthetic methods in polymer chemistry, for which we are currently gaining patent protection. I had previously carried out my PhD in the group of Lance Twyman at the University of Sheffield.
