I am a Senior Lecturer in the Electronic Engineering Department at the University of York. My first degree was a BSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of York in 1985 and I completed my DPhil in Theoretical Physics entitled The scattering of polarised and un-polarised electrons from atoms and ferromagnetic surfaces in 1991 with the Department of Physics, University of York. In 1993 I took up a post as a lecturer in the Electronic Engineering Department at the University of York where I contribute to work in Applied Electromagnetics.

Research Interests:

My research interests are in:

• Computational electromagnetics, particularly as applied to Radio-Frequency and Microwave problems;
• Computational and computer-aided tools for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design;
• Antenna design;
• Bio-electromagnetics and human exposure to EMF
• Application of evolutionary and simulated annealing optimisation methods to antenna design and EMC;
• Computational acoustics.

• Computational electromagnetics;
• Numerical methods;
• Data structures and algorithms;
• Distributed computer systems;
• Object oriented programming using Java.
