Dr Kieran Gibson
Reader in Experimental Tokamak Plasma Physics at the University
of York
I joined the University of York Plasma
Physics and Fusion Group in 2007, having previously worked for over ten years
on experimental plasma physics at the School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Manchester. My main research
interests are in understanding the processes that influence the flux of heat
and particles leaving the confined tokamak plasma and how these fluxes can be
handled so as to minimise plasma-surface interactions. I also have
long-standing interests in plasma diagnostic development and am currently
involved with a major £2M collaborative project between York and UKAEA to upgrade the Thomson scattering diagnostic
on the MAST tokamak at Culham Laboratory.
