To test the hypothesis that "travel broadens the mind", randomly chosen individuals are accosted in the street and asked: (a) whether they have visited another country in the last 12 months and (b) whether they approved of stricter immigration control. Individuals not able to answer "yes" or "no" to these questions are discarded from the study.
