Exercise: BMI and alcohol consumption in the 2005 questionnaire, 8

Question 8: What could we conclude from the confidence interval and P value?

Suggested answer

From the confidence interval, we can conclude that in the population the relationship between reported BMI and alcohol consumption is that BMI is greater by between 0.008 and 0.141 Kg/m2 for each unit of alcohol consumed per week.

From the P value, we can conlcude that there is evidence that average BMI is greater for people who drink more alcohol.
