Clinical Biostatistics: Head circumference exercise, 5

Question 5: The 95% confidence interval, males minus females, = 12 to 25 mm, P < 0.0001. What could we conclude from this?

Suggested answer

We estimate that male students have an average head circumference which is greater than the average for females by between 12 and 25 mm. This difference is too large to have occurred by chance and there is very strong evidence that there is a real difference in the population from which this sample comes.
