Suggested answer to exercise: Eye colour and sex, 1

Question 1: What kind of variable is eye colour? What kind of variable is sex?

Suggested answer

Eye colour is qualitative variable, also called a categorical variable. The categories are not ordered. Such a variable is also called nominal.

Sex is also a qualitative variable. Because there are only two categories, it is also called dichotomous or binary.
