The horizontal axis is labeled "Variable X" and numbered 2, 4, 6, and 8. The vertical axis is labeled "Variable Y" and numbered 2, 4, 6, and 8. Each of the 50 observations is shown by a small diamond positioned at that subject's Variable X and Variable Y.

Points with large X tend to have large Y, but the relationship is not perfect.

When X = 3, Y ranges from 3 to 5. When X = 7, Y ranges from 4 to 6.
