Welcome

The Magnetic Thin Films Research Group specialises in the study of the structure and magnetic properties of nanoscale magnetic materials such as thin films, multilayers, perovskites and spin electronics.

Current projects include:

  • correlation of crystal and electronic structure with magnetic and transport properties
  • spin electronics in hybrid metallic/semiconductor devices
  • development of the InfraRed MagnetoRefractive Effect (IR-MRE) for the study of spin-dependent transport
  • simulation of the magnetorefractive effect
  • using the IR-MRE to study perovskites
  • using Spin-Polarised Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (SP-STM) to study spin-dependent transport
