1st Heworth (York) Scout Group: Formed in 1914, one of Yorks oldest Scout Groups.

Shere Khan is a character in Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle book" story. It is also the basis for Cub-Scout leaders names. I was Shere Khan with my local Scout Group, and hence gained the dubious name of Shaky. The Jungle book is one of those books that re-read as an adult is such a disappointment. In the Jungle book Shere Khan is portrayed as an evil tiger... In actual fact the tiger is a noble beast, who like the rest of us is just struggling to survive.
