Richard Walker

Dr. Richard Walker joined the University in July, taking up the post of Learning Technologist. He will provide support for staff towards the development and use of online technologies in learning and teaching. He will assist efforts towards the establishment of a centrally supported virtual learning environment at York, which is targeted for September 2004.

Richard is based in the Academic Support Office, which is part of the Registrar's Department. His office is HG10, located in Heslington Hall.

He joined from The Netherlands Business School, Nyenrode University where he held the post of Pedagogue in Virtual Learning. Richard completed his PhD at Nyenrode University, with the thesis focusing on student-centred applications of e-learning for MBA course design and delivery. The project was sponsored by Microsoft Nederland.

Before moving to Holland, he was employed by the Euro-Arab Management School in Granada, Spain as a virtual course designer and helped to design a virtual management diploma course for delivery in Europe and the Arab world. Richard also possesses considerable teaching experience, working for a number of schools within the UK education sector and overseas.
