My research interests are primarily in applied probability, in particular coupling theory, perfect simulation, and convergence rates of Markov processes.

  1. I helped to found the Probability in the North East (PiNE) research network
  2. I am an editor for the Applied Probability Trust journals
  3. I am a member of the Research Grants Committee of the London Mathematical Society
  4. I am an external member of the Academic Steering and Management Group for the Scottish Mathematical Sciences Training Centre
  5. For most of 2009 - 2019 I was a lecturer of the Applied Stochastic Processes module for the Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS)
