During university term time, socials are usually held on Thursdays from around 8:00 in Derwent Bar's dining area (Derwent College being here, at the eastern end of campus). Outside term time, they happen elsewhere - give us a poke via e-mail or ask on the forums if you're interested in dropping in on a social during the holidays.
As well as general chatter, there are usually some games of Magic going on somewhere, and occasionally there are board games, too. Come along and say hi!
Curious newbie or experienced larper, feel free to come along to Shattered Legacies, the (currently) twice-weekly campus LARP system. Usually runs on Wednesdays and Sundays - see the Shattered Legacies page for more details.
Quoth our master of all things board game: "We play a vast array of different boardgames on Mondays from 8 in G/002. It's in the maths department near the porters lodge in what is now James college, used to be Goodricke (hence the G). Everyone's welcome, we'll happily teach you how to play any games you've not seen before (Most aren't overly complicated), and give helpful advice until you can stand on your own two feet (then we show no mercy! I'm sure you understand). If you have a favourite game then bring it along and We'll give it a whirl."
Alternating between drafts and Standard tournaments (last I knew) with booster packs as prizes, the Magic happens on Monday evenings in the Wentworth suite (from the front entrance, through the double doors, down the corridor to your left and then through the double doors on your right). New players always welcome!
There are probably a handful of tabletop games in progress at any given time, but attempting to list them and keep such a list up-to-date would be a tall order. Your best bet for getting into a game (or indeed running one) would be coming along to socials, getting involved, and getting to know people. That way, when they're looking for players, you might be asked if you want to be one of them, and if you're wanting players for your own game, you've got people you know to invite into it. :)
