Open Letter to China
Introduction
The Open Letters to China was written following problems with room bookings. Firstly to declare war and secondly to declare peace. There has thus far been no response from China.
The First Open Letter to China
Dear China,
It would appear that relations between DougSoc and China have now become intolerable. As you are fully aware, on most Tuesday nights DougSoc use the room V/123 for their weekly meetings. It would appear that the Chinese Society have entirely disregarded our usual booking of this room and have booked it in advance for the rest of the term.
Thus DougSoc has no choice, but to issue an absolute and solemn declaration of war on China. The this declaration is issued by DougSoc based on majority vote in a DougSoc committee meeting.
We apologise for the inconvenience
DougSoc
The Second Open Letter to China
Dear China,
Following our previous letter, we have discussed our declaration of war in the last committee meeting, we have decided to cease our relentless (if rather half-hearted) assault on your nation. This is for two reasons
- The Chinese Society have relinquished V/123 for this term and we have once again to be able to book it. This removes the original problem that the conflict wished to resolve
- China is significantly bigger than DougSoc, almost as bent on world domination, has a bigger army, more missiles, and DougSoc can't be arsed
In light of this we are issuing a proclamation of peace. The decision was made based on a majority vote at a DougSoc committee meeting.
Love and kisses!
DougSoc
