The York Colleges Guild is a group of bell ringers, most of whom are students at the University of York or York St John University College. We also have a few members who are former students and have now entered the real world of work!
As a society, we have no religious affiliation and welcome members of any faith or none.
We have two main sections, with some members belonging to both. The tower bell section rings church bells at various churches in and around the city, usually at St. Laurence or St. Martin-le-Grand. The hand bell section rings tunes on handbells. For more information on both of these sections, please see the ringing menu on the left of this page.
We also hold fairly regular social activities, the majority of which seem to involve the consumption of alcohol...
Are you mad enough to join us? Take a look around the site and if it takes your fancy send us an email!
It doesn't matter if you have never touched, seen or even heard bells before. You don't need to be religious and don't need to be musical. We can teach new recruits from scratch. Why not come along to one of our practices and see what it is all about?
