York University Canoe Polo Club
Training Sessions
During the Autumn term we host weekly pool sessions at Wetherby pool on Thursday evenings between 9 and 10pm. We meet at the Canoe Polo container, behind the Sports Centre for these sessions at 7.45pm. There are limited spaces however, so if you would like to come along for the first time, you are always welcome just email Sarah to guarantee a space.
When it gets a bit warmer, we like to train outside on the Ouse, so that we aren't constrained by times that the pool is booked for, it also means we can have a BBQ afterwards when its sunny. The sessions are initially focused upon basic kayaking skills and ball control. Moving on to more team based work and game dynamics as we train for league games and tournaments such as BUCS and Roses. Occasionally we will also go to the Ouse for some fitness and general training.

What to Bring?
In the autumn and winter terms, we play in the swimming pool. So all you'll just need a swimming costume and towel and if you have them a rash vest and board shorts; its worth emailing The President to see if there are any you can borrow, if not just bring an old t-shirt and some lightweight shorts that you don't mind getting wet.
In the summer, when we play on the Ouse, bring the same as for the pool, but an extra layer to keep warm - fleeces are great, just try to avoid cotton.
It's always a good idea to bring a snack and something to drink - polo can be hard work!
