The photograph was taken by friends of a colleague, Grant Wilson, in the living room of their house in Yeadon, North Leeds, England. They were taking photos of their nickable gear for insurance purposes. Grant tells me he was present when the photo was taken and there was nothing on the screen as the TV was turned OFF, they had the shock of their lives when the pictures came back from the developers. Grant assures me this is 100% genuine, although he expects nobody to believe him. I'm not sure if I do, I'm a complete sceptic when it comes to ghosts, the paranormal and all that sort of thing, but I have got to say I am fascinated by this photo, and if it is a fake, it's a very good one. But how can we tell if it is a fake or not? the screen has the dull grey look of a switched off TV but the reflections and glare from the camera's flash only make it harder to tell if it's on or not. I did wonder if someone had applied a little double exposure to the print, but Grant tells me the face is on the negative as well, so that must rule out any tom-foolery by the photo processing company. So if it is a fake then the TV must be on, but is it? Message Board, added 10.01.2002. The message board was added because I was not getting arround to replying to the many emails I was recieving about the spook, below are some of those mails...

Update 14.7.2006It would appear that the face on the TV screen is actually Prince Albert and originates from this daguerreotype photograph. Although I have had emails insisting the photograph is a fake, Grant and his friends still insist it is genuine. This from Grant: 'The TV was not switched on it was unplugged, which only leaves trickery at the photo processing place or a very strange occurance. You cannot rule either out. Its not a fake, though I agree its the same picture as Prince Albert, the mystery is how it got onto the photograph in perfect preportion to the tv'. You decide! Simon Hart. |
