Review

Well, after season 6 managed to survive the loss of Daniel Jackson, season 7 managed to survive his return. The build-up throughout the season is towards the discovery of the Lost City, desperately needed to fight Anubis' new super-soldiers (invincible brainwashed Goa'uld).

The impressive high level of continuity continues, including one important reference right back to season 2. There are also sly references to some of the implausibilities -- such as when Daniel is explaining what happened to him to a documentary maker, or when Sam gently warns her new boyfriend that most of her old ones are dead, or when there is a formal review of Stargate procedures. People complain these guys are irresponsibly risking the Earth -- and they do have a point!

The end-of-season plotline was originally supposed to be the end of SG-1 series, and feed in to the new Stargate Atlantis series. But SG-1 will be continuing their adventures too. It will be interesting to see how the two series can run in parallel -- will there be the same impressive level of continuity between series as there is between seasons?
