Four people are discussing a problem looking for alternative solution. They would converge on an idea. However, can groupware improve this? Is groupware a person, place or thing? Thing - conduit for communication - with or without rules, place the cyber meeting room, person - an active participant providing focus, ideas and question to inspire group thought.

Example(s): software keeps track of idea, comments and competing arguments - it would ask the group for opinion - how to reconcile the differences. It would ask for comparison of benefits gained and lost for existing position to new ideas.
