The "How To Write Project Reports Document"
Important note: This document is
only intended for students who are writing project reports for me to read and mark.
I know from students who have followed my advice in previous years that
some other academics here do not agree with me on some of the advice in this
document.
The main differences in opinion seem concern the formality of the
writing style required, and on the use of the first person in project
reports. I would strongly advise you to get advice from your
first and second supervisor and follow that wherever possible: after
all, these are the people who will be marking your report. (This
isn't as arbitrary as it may seem - it's a very useful skill to
be able to find out what your boss wants from a report, and to provide
that, even if you think it's not the best way to write a document.)
