Teaching and Administrative duties

Professor Fairlamb is involved in core and option teaching within the Department of Chemistry in York.  Previous courses taught include year 1 NMR spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry (invidually to Chemists and Biochemists), year 1 Introduction to Organic Chemistry, and running of the year 1 Synthesis Practical Course (for 3 years).

Year 3 undergraduate chemistry: Pericyclic Reactions

Year 3 undergraduate chemistry: Metal-Mediated Organic Synthesis

Year 4 undergraduate chemistry: Advanced Organometallics in Catalysis and Organic Synthesis

Post-graduate taught course: Drug Discovery (with CIDCATS CDT programme)

Post-graduate taught course: Catalysis in Organic Synthesis

Post-graduate taught course: Inert Atmospheres and Schlenk Techniques

Research Support Director within the Department of Chemistry (2010-16)

Departmental Seminar Coordinator (2006-2015)

Coordinator for Pilot Centre for Doctoral Training in Catalysis (2012-16).

Member of Research Committee (2010-2015), including Deputy Chair (2013-2015).

Member of NMR Committee and Exceptional Circumstances Committee (undergraduate students).

Appointed member of Royal Society of Chemistry Dalton Division Council and member of the Dalton Division Awards Panel (2016-2019).   

External examiner for the MRes in Catalysis course (Imperial College London), from 2015-2018.
