Jason Lynam graduated from the University of York in 1993 and then undertook a D. Phil. with Dr Roger Mawby at the same institution. His thesis was concerned with a study of the assembly of organic ligands within the coordination of ruthenium complexes. After the completion of these studies Jason moved to the University of Bath to take up a PostDoc position with Professor Michael Green and Dr Andrew Burrows, this project was based on the use of phosphaalkynes as h2(4e)-ligands within the coordination sphere of metal complexes. In 2000 he moved with Professor Green to the University of Bristol and was awarded a Ramsay Memorial Fellowship in 2001. In 2002 Jason took up a position of lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at York. His research interests are based around the use of alkynes and phosphaalkynes as building blocks for new molecular architectures.

Michael Cowley began at York in 2000, and graduate in 2004 with an Mchem having spent the final year of his degree at the University of Helsinki. Michael began his PhD in October 2004, working for Jason Lynam on transition metal complexes of nucleobase derivatives.

Lee Dingwall started his Chemistry career in 2002 at Durham University, completing an MChem degree in Chemistry in 2006. In the final year of the degree, he worked for Johnson Matthey Catalysts as part of a one year industrial placement. On completion of his first degree he moved to York, taking a PhD position in Catalytic Surface Science under BP sponsorship with Drs Adam Lee, Karen Wilson and Jason Lynam.

Ben Moulton moved to York in 2000 where he graduated in 2004 with an MChem in Chemistry. As part of his degree we worked in Basel, Switzerland fro Roche on a year long industrial placement. On returning to York he took a Ph.D position with Drs Ian Fairlamb, Anne Duhme-Klair and Jason Lynam on a project based on the preparation of novel pyrone and diene-containing iron carbonyl complexes..

Dr Charlotte Willans obtained her PhD in 2006, she is now a PostDoc worker at the University of Durham with Dr John Steed

She came to York in 1998 to study for a Masters degree in chemistry. She spent 3 years studying at the University and spent her final year carrying out an industrial placement at DSM in the Netherlands. She graduated with an MChem in 2002. She then returned to York and started her PhD in lanthanide catalysis with Dr. Francesca Kerton. In 2004 her supervisor moved to Canada and Charlotte moved to the group of Dr. Jason Lynam to continue her work in lanthanide chemistry and carry out some new research in organophosphorus chemistry.

Dr Tracy Nixon worked as a PDRA in the Lynam group between 2004 and 2006. She is now a PostDoc at the University of Bath with Professor Jon Williams and Dr Mike Whitlesey.
