Graph description: Figure 12. Residual BMI after regression on abdominal and arm circumference and sex against the regression estimate, for 202 adults

This is a scatter diagram.

The horizontal axis shows predicted body mass index in kilogrammes per square metre and is numbered 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. The vertical axis shows residual body mass index in kilogrammes per square metre and is numbered –20, –10, 0, 10, 20, and 30.

There is little sign of a relationship bewteen predicted and residual body mass index, though it may be that small and large predicted is related to slightly larger residual body mass index than is predicted body mass index in the centre of the range. For predicted body mass index = 55, residual ranges from –8 to +10. For predicted body mass index = 75, residual ranges from –15 to +12 with an outlier at 30. For predicted body mass index = 90, residual ranges from –7 to +15.
