Question 1: Is there any evidence of clinical heterogeneity between these trials?
Yes, there is a lot of clinical heterogeneity.
What these trials have in common is that they use parenteral steroids to reduce the risk of complications following extubation. The reason for the intubation varies greatly, as do the steroid used and the dosage.
The age and sex distribution of patients also varies considerably between trials.
