This plot is based on Galton's original data. It shows mid-parent height in inches on the horizontal axis and child height on the vertical axis. The points are represented by circles of varying size. The area of the circle represents the number of coincident points. The regression line of child height on midparent height is shown.
There is a positive correlation between parent and child height, but not a strong one (r=0.39).
