On the vertical axis is capillary density (capillaries per mm2) and the horizontal axis shows patient group, 'controls' and 'ulcers'.
For each group, a rectangular box is shown which repsents the central half of the points, with a horizontal line representing the median. Above and below the box vertical lines extend to shown the minimu and maximum observations. For 'ulcers', the upper line is truncated and very short, the highest value being represented by an isolated point.
