Question 3. What principle is used to calculate the line which best fits the data?

Suggested answer

The line was fitted using the principle of least squares. We find the line which makes the sum of the squares of the differences between the observed potassium and that predicted by the regression line a minimum. On the graph, these would be the vertcial distances from the point to the line.
