SESSION 2		LOGGING IN AND OUT


1. Your login id (user id) and password are recognisable on any computing
service machine.

Your terminal should show the prompt

			login:

to which you should reply with your login id, then press RETURN.



2. A second prompt will appear asking for your password

			password:

Type your password and press RETURN.

A prompt symbol will then appear (this may vary from machine to machine).
This indicates that UNIX is ready to accept commands. Various messages 
may appear before the first prompt (from the system manager, for example)
and possibly MAIL messages addressed to you (see later).



3. To logout at the end of a session, type

			logout		(or exit)

and press RETURN. The login prompt should then reappear ready for the 
next user.

Try logging in and out a couple of times.
