Moray District Library’s photographic collection is a
fairly recent creation and lacks the quantity of older material
to be found in the libraries of the larger cities and universities.
Nevertheless, this little book attempts to show those changes which have,
and have not, taken place throughout the Moray district
in the course of the last seventy years or so.
Most of these photographs date from the early years of the present century,
though the range is from c.1870 to 1926.
The text is of necessity concise and though making
no pretence to literary merit is still, I hope, informative and accurate.
Most of the present-day photographs were taken in the summer of 1977.
It was not always possible, or desirable, to take a picture from exactly
the same point as many years before.
The differences, however, are of such a minor nature that they do not
distort the comparison between past and present.
