Norman Thomson.
APL Programs for the Mathematics Classroom.
Springer. 1989

This book presents a large collection of imaginative and useful algorithms programmed in APL. The examples have been chosen to include “real worid” algorithms which can be brought rapidly into classroom use. When appropriate, notes on the programs are included to show the natural ease with which APL deals with the mathematics concerned.

APL Programs grew out of the I-APL (International APL) Project which aims to bring APL within the reach of all students and teachers. The techniques and algorithms presented will also appeal to hobbyists with an interest in mathematical or statistical programming.

Norman Thomson.
The Moray Way Companion.
Birlinn. 2022

The Moray Way consists of all or part of three previously existing routes: the Moray Coast Trail, the Speyside Way and the Dava Way, which together embrace great landscape variety. This book portrays much of what this beautiful and richly historical part of Scotland has to offer.

Between Forres and Lossiemouth, the two largest towns, lie the coastal villages of Findhorn, Burghead and Hopeman, connected by some of Scotland's finest coastal scenery and beaches. Eastwards, beyond remarkable remains of Second World War defences, lie Garmouth and Fochabers on opposite sides of the Spey. The Moray Way proceeds through the fertile Spey valley with its many famed distilleries before continuing to the resort town of Grantown. From here the Dava Way crosses the wild openness of Dava Moor culminating in the iconic Divie viaduct, where a dramatic change occurs as gentler pastoral and woodland scenery leads back to Forres.
