Updates:

New! Publications section updated. A new IEEE Transactions article on which I am co-author with my colleague Jez Wells has just been published. The AudioLab will also have a strong showing at the 128th AES Convention in London in May. We have five papers in total being presented.

Introduction:

The main purpose of the site is to support, disseminate and promote my teaching, research and composition work in my role as Lecturer in the Audio Lab at the Department of Electronics, at the University of York, UK.

The Research pages contain details relating to my research interests in the field of Music Technology and Audio Engineering.  This includes general areas of interest and details on specific current and previous projects.  If you are here because you are interested in possible postgraduate research, then this section will give a good idea of the areas I would be interested in supervising.

The Publications section presents a complete list of my published papers and musical works together with other related items of interest.  Some of these are (or will) be available for download, but if you are finding it difficult to track down a copy then please get in touch and I should be able to help.

The Compose \ Create section presents some of the projects I have worked on as musician/composer/sound-artist and there are also some audio file extracts available for you to download to get a feel for what my work in this area is like. Eventually I will also try to document some of my working practices and provide links to resources I have found helpful.

My teaching covers many aspects of Music Technology, focusing on recording studio techniques, sound design, audio postproduction and physical modelling.  Again, the goal with the Course Resources section is to develop an online resource of use to the wider community.  If you are one of my students, please for the moment, refer to the appropriate internal web page available from the regular Department of Electronics course webpages.

For any additional information relating to the above, or to report a broken part of this site please send me an Email at the address above and I will reply as soon as I can.
