Exercise: Primary pulmonary hypertension, 1

Question 1: What kinds of variables are genotype and PPH?

Suggested answer

These are both qualitative or categorical variables.

Genotype has three categories. They are not ordered, because it is possible for the effect of LS to be between SS and LH, identical either to SS or LH, or greater than or less than both.

PPH has two categories, so it would also be called binary or dichotomous, as well as being qualitative or categorical.
