Second Language Acquisition of Phonology 2012

University of York, July 6th 2012

Welcome to the archived webpage for the one-day conference on Second Language Acquisition of Phonology held at the University of York, UK, on the 6th July 2012.

Second language phonetics and phonology is a rapidly expanding field, with 20 articles published on "second language" in the Journal of Phonetics in 2011 alone. Since there are few dedicated conferences in this field, SLP2012 will provide a valuable opportunity for researchers to meet and discuss their work. The conference will include a special session on acquisition of phonetics and phonology by English learners of other languages. Since the majority of research into second language phonology focuses on the acquisition of English, we would like to provide a forum for researchers working in the opposite direction to share their findings. Our invited speakers are Rachel Hayes-Harb (University of Utah) and Paul Iverson (UCL).

Programme

The conference programme is available here, with links to abstracts and to full papers/talks (if provided after the conference by the author). A printable pdf version of the programme is here.
