Preliminary Ideas
The technique presented above is in an early stage of refinement. The chords are constrained to ideas of Western classical harmony. The effect of correct and incorrect chords and melodies upon a listener will of course depend upon the musical experience of that user of the system.

However, it is thought that listeners familiar with other styles of music can learn to recognise where the boundary between consonance and dissonance lies in the given example, although their personal boundary may lie somewhere different.

The approach outlined here (i.e. the use of grammars to structure sound) does not have to be restricted to any style or musical culture; it is powerful enough to adapt to many musics.
