In an experiment on non-verbal communication, male participants rate a male and a female participant conversing on a video tape. Ratings are obtained on a 6 point scale from "very bored" to "very interested" with no neutral midpoint. Separate ratings are obtained for the male and for the female participant and a different video-tape is used with each of 10 participants. It is proposed that for male raters the female participant will be perceived as being more bored than the male participant.
