Exercise: Two sample t test for the energy expenditure data

The file energy.sav contains the 24 hour energy expenditure data for lean and obese women analysed in the lecture for Week 6.

Download the file and read it into SPSS.

Questions

1. Compare the mean energy expenditure between lean and obese women using the two sample t test. Report the mean and its confidence interval to two decimal places.

2. For each group, draw a Normal plot (Q-Q plot) for energy expenditure. Does the distribution look Normal?

(It is not straightforward to draw the plot of residuals using the t test command, we will see another way later in the course.)
