A graph with the horizontal axis labelled “Head circumference (mm)” and numbered 500, 550, 600, 650. The vertical axis is labelled “Height (mm)” and numbered 1400, 1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900. Each student’s head circumference and height is shown as a point, represented by a little hollow diamond shape. The points form a roughly oval cloud with the highest density of points in the middle. When head circumference is 525 mm heights range from about 1450 to 1750 mm. When head circumference is 600 mm, heights range from about 1550 to 1800 mm. There are two straight lines on the plot. One straight line goes from head circumference 520 mm, height 1600 mm, to head circumference 630 mm, height 1750 mm. This line represents the regression of height on head circumference. The other straight line goes from head circumference 540 mm, height 1450 mm, to head circumference 580 mm, height 1820 mm. This line represents the original regression of head circumference on height.
