I lead the Trustworthy Adaptive and Autonomous Systems and Processes (TASP) research team, developing theory and tools that make autonomous and AI-enabled systems verifiably safe, resilient and responsible — including probabilistic system modelling, verification and synthesis; self-adaptive system engineering and assurance methodologies; and social, legal, ethical, empathetic and cultural norm operationalisation for AI agents.

We apply our basic research to embodied-AI systems in domains such as healthcare, assistive care, and environmental protection.

I was appointed an AI Champion by UKRI’s Responsible AI (RAi UK) programme to help lead the introduction of responsible artificial intelligence in the NHS and health and care sectors. My Oxford DPhil received a British Computer Society Distinguished Dissertation Award.
