Embedding & sectioning

Selecting the correct embedding medium from the various waxes and resins available is critical to allow the collection of thin, clean sections with minimal artefact. A medium must be selected to match the hardness of your specimen and protect heat/solvent sensitive samples. We understand the challenges associated with processing tissues incorporating biomaterial scaffolds used in tissue engineering and can offer a range of solutions.

Bone samples present particular problems due to their hardness and may require demineralisation or thick sectioning followed by grinding to allow high resolution imaging.

Once embedded, samples can be sectioned and mounted on slides for study, with any remaining tissue blocks returned on study completion.
