Exercise: BMI and alcohol consumption in the 2005 questionnaire, 3

Question 3: What would you guess the correlation coefficient to be for BMI and height?

Suggested answer

If there is a relationship, it is a very weak one. Looking at the graph, there is a slight tendency for the cloud of points to rise. We might guess that r lies somewhere between 0.0 and 0.2. In fact, r = 0.13.

The relationship is not significant, P = 0.08.
